At Lough Derg eBike Tours, we have a number of partnerships with local accommodation providers. When you book a stay with one of our accommodation partners, you have the option to book a guided tour from your accommodation. We will bring the bikes to you, then head out for 3 or 4 hours to explore some of the highlights of the local area. It’s a great way to explore your surroundings without the need to get in the car at all. And it may well give you ideas for places you would like to explore further during your stay! You will also have the option to hold onto your bikes for a day or two after the guided tour, and explore some more. If you decide to hold onto your bikes, you will be provided with a Garmin GPS device, pre-loaded with local routes, and you will also be given a battery charger so you will be able to go as far as you like, or just meander around the local area. In addition, we offer a customer discount for anyone booking a tour via one of the accommodation providers listed. Please note that if you wish to do a tour and are concerned that the distance is further than you can manage, there are options for one-way tours, where you would only need to cover half the distance. Our accommodation partners are listed below.

Fuchsia Lane Farm

Fuchsia Lane Farm is approximately 2km outside of Terryglass, a picturesque harbour town at the northern end of Lough Derg. Niall and Inez provide high quality award-winning self catering cottages on a farm. From Fuchsia Lane we offer two tours. The first tour is the Monastic Settlement Tour, which takes you to Lorrha, where you can explore 2 churches, an abbey and a friary. The oldest of these dates back to around 600AD. Nearby to Lorrha is Lackeen Castle, former stronghold of the O’Kennedy family. Because Lorrha is a ‘hidden gem’, there is a very good chance that as you wander among the ancient buildings you will have them to yourself. The second tour option is the Lake Shores tour. This takes you through the North Tipperary Countryside to the Lough Derg shore at Luska, from where we will work our way back along the Lough shore past such highlights as Kilbarron Quay and Mota Quay. The views are stunning, yet this is a very under-visited section of the lake, so you can experience some real peace and quiet as you gaze out over the water!

River Run House & Self Catering

River Run House is situate in Terryglass village, and from here we offer the same two tours as described above for Fuchsia Lane Farm. River Run House is a row of cottages which can be hired out in its entirety for a large group, or can be rented in sections for couples or families. Visitors have the option of being catered or self-catered; either way you will enjoy a fantastic stay with this great quality accommodation.

Abbey Court Hotel

Abbey Court Hotel is situated in the heart of Nenagh, offering 3 star accommodation and a good quality dining experience. The coffee dock is particularly recommended. From Abbey Court we offer two tours. Firstly, the Medieval Historic Sites Tour will take you to various historic churches and castles to the North of Nenagh. The historic buildings date back to between the 12th and 16th Centuries, and all of the churches can be explored on foot. The second tour offered is the Scenic Lake Shore tour, which takes you to beautiful Garrykennedy via quiet back roads. For experienced cyclists, you can then return to Nenagh via further lake views and woodland at Castlelough.

Killaloe Hotel And Spa

Killaloe Hotel and Spa offers 4-star accommodation on the western shore of the River Shannon. The hotel is a short walk from historic Killaloe, and offers great food and a beer garden. From Killaloe we offer 3 tours. Firstly, the 3 Counties Shannon Tour takes you across the river to Birdhill, then on to the spectacular Parteen Weir, retuning via the gentle hills of East Clare. The second tour we offer is titled Hills, Crafts and Coffee. This takes you north of Killaloe to Scariff and Tuamgraney, taking in gentle hill climbs and fantastic lake views, along with optional visits to a chocolate factory, various coffee shops and a woollen mills. The final tour option form Killaloe is titled Lake Shores and Uplands. This tour is aimed at the experienced cyclist, and takes you across the Shannon to Garrykennedy via the Arra Mountain Range.
