Fuchsia Lane Farm – Terryglass
Fuchsia Lane Farm offers self catering accommodation near to Terryglass, including several cottages to choose from. We offer 2 guided tours from here. One of the tours takes you to the historic monastic settlement of Lorrha, where you can wander through the ruins of ancient abbeys and visit nearby Lackeen castle. The other tour from Fuchsia Lane takes you to some of the most scenic spots along the lakeshore, from Luska to Terryglass. What both tours have in common is that they take you to ‘Hidden Gems’ where you may well have a place of outstanding beauty to yourself. You also have the option of holding onto the bikes for anything from a half day to multiple days, and exploring under your own steam.
River Run Cottage – Terryglass
River Run Cottage offers high quality self catering accommodation within the village of Terryglass. We offer the same options here as at Fuchsia Lane Farm. That is, you can explore historic Lorrha or cruise along the beautiful lake shore on a guided tour, or you can rent an ebike and explore the area on your own schedule.
Abbey Court Hotel – Nenagh
Abbey Court Hotel is in the heart of Nenagh and has been recently renovated. From here we offer a choice of two guided tours. First is the Medieval Historic Sites Experience, which will take you through the surrounding countryside on quiet back lanes, visiting local castles and churches. The sites you visit are up to 1000 years old, and you will have the opportunity to wander inside the old churches and hear tales of the local history. The other tour offered is the Lake Shores. This will take you to various spots on the shore of Lough Derg. Depending on your levels of cycling experience and fitness levels, you may opt to go up into some of the local hills as well. And as with our other accommodation partners, you can also opt to take a bike rental without the guided tour and explore the many routes on quiet roads out of Nenagh, using a Garmin GPS device, or navigating via the Komoot app on your own phone.
Killaloe Hotel and Spa – Killaloe
On the other side of the River Shannon lies the historical town of Killaloe, and the Killaloe Hotel and Spa offer high quality accommodation overlooking the river. From here we offer a choice of self-guided ebike rentals as well as 3 Guided Tours. First of the Guided Tours is titled ‘Hills, Crafts and Coffee’, which takes you north through the hills of East Clare to the market towns of Scarriff and Tuamgraney. Here you have a choice of coffee shops and cafes, and can also visit Wilde Mountain Chocolates or McKernan Woollen Mill. The 2nd of the Guided tours is titled ‘The 3 Counties Shannon Tour’. This takes you across the river into Ballina, then on to the award winning village of Birdhill via quiet back roads, where you may stop for a coffee or lunch. You will then proceed to O’Brien’s Bridge to view the spectacular Parteen Weir, where the Shannon splits in two thanks to an early 20th century marvel of engineering. You will then cross back into County Clare and return to Killaloe via scenic back roads. The 3rd Guided Tour on offer is for the more experienced cyclist and is titled ‘Killaloe Lakes and Uplands’. This takes you to beautiful harbour village Garrykennedy on the eastern shore of Lough Derg before returning to Killaloe via the Graves of the Leinstermen, offering spectacular views down over the lake from on high.
