For Heritage Week 2025, the theme is 'Exploring Our Foundations'. In Irish medieval society, the church was a key part of the foundations of society, and so we plan to do a tour of the ancient churches of the Monsea and Killodiernan parish, to the North of Nenagh. The tour will involve eBiking from Dromineer and calling in at 4 of the ancient churchyards, where you will hear a little about the history of each site and have a chance to wander around the churchyards and among the ruins. There will be guest speakers from the Ormond Historical Society to entertain you with stories of the past, and questions and discussions are more than welcome!

We start in Dromineer, then proceed to the 13th Century Monsea church near Ballycommon, where John Flannery will relate the history of the church and the area. Next, we will cross the Nenagh River at Ballyartella before visiting the 15th Century Knigh church, where Danny Grace will give his take on the stories of the area, which has a family connection for him. We then continue through quiet back roads to Prospect, and down to the 12th Century Killodiernan Church at Johnstown. Finally, we return to Dromineer via Puckaun, and visit the oldest church in the area, built in the 10th century.

As well as visiting the churchyards, you will also get to explore a beautiful area of the North Tipperary countryside by eBike. The route involves no major climbs and plenty of stops, so will be suitable to all levels of fitness. The tour will be taking place on the two Saturdays of Heritage Week, the 16th and 23rd of August. It will start at 10.30, and will start and end at Dromineer, where there is plenty of parking. For those who with to travel by bus from Nenagh, the 322 route leaves Nenagh at 10.05 and arrives at Dromineer at 10.30.
