Garrykennedy
Garrykennedy is approximately 20 km from Killaloe, on the eastern side of Lough Derg, and is a very quaint village with a lovely forest walk, great views of the lake, fishing, an ancient castle and a wonderful eatery.
Please note that this route is graded 'Hard' because it includes some fairly steep climbs and descents in the Arra Mountain range. If you are able to manage these, it will be well worth the effort!

Tuamgraney and Scariff
Explore the western shore of Lough Derg. First you will travel through the East Clare hills, on a back road featuring beautiful mountain views, before arriving in the historic market towns of Tuamgraney and Scariff. Here you will see historic sites, and can also visit a chocolate factory, a woollen mill and the East Clare Community Cooperative. Then you will return via a cycle path with beautiful lake views.

Parteen Weir and the Shannon
Explore the Shannon to the South of Killaloe. First you will head through the Tipperary countryside to the award winning village of Birdhill, where you can pause for a coffee. Next you will head for O'Briens Bridge where you will view the spectacular Parteen Weir, where the Shannon splits in two. Finally you will head back to Killaloe via the East Clare hills.
