Tuamgraney

Tuamgraney is a very historic market town, featuring the oldest Church still in regular use in Ireland, as well as the Wilde Irish Chocolates factory and McKernan Woollen Mill.

Scariff

Scariff is a short distance from Tuamgraney, and is a market town which includes the East Clare Community Co-Operative, where you can admire the local crafts and/or get a coffee and vegetarian food at the Garden Cafe.

Ogonelloe

Ogonnelloe

From Ogonnelloe to Scariff you will be able to enjoy many beautiful views of Lough Derg. The tour also takes you along the edge of the Aughinish Woods, featuring many ancient oak trees.

More Information - Hills, Crafts and Coffee

This tour takes you up the south western edge of Lough Derg, to Tuamgraney and Scariff.

The tour starts in Killaloe, Co. Clare, and is suited to cyclists of all abilities. The tour heads north along a back road into the hills, before arriving at Tuamgraney. Here you can visit St Cronan's, the oldest church still in regular use in Ireland, or you can visit McKernan Woollen Mills, or you can visit Wilde Ireland Chocolates factory. Or you may wish to do all 3!

Please note that tours are available at Wilde Irish Chocolates, where you can make your own bar of chocolate. If you wish to participate in this, then pre-booking is advisable, via the 'Book an Experience' link at the website, at an additional cost of 8.50.

Next, we continue to Scariff, which is a scenic market town. Here you can visit the East Clare Community Co-operative, where you can view local crafts, or you can pause for a coffee and/or lunch at the gorgeous Garden Cafe.

Next we will head back to Killaloe via Ogonnelloe. Here you will see fantastic views of Lough Derg, and we will divert onto forest roads on the edge of the oak woods at Aughinish.
