At Tuamgraney, we will visit St Cronan's Church, which was built in the 11th Century and is the oldest church still to host regular services in Ireland. From Tuamgraney we will head into Scariff, where you may opt to call into the East Clare Community Coop for a tea or coffee, or a snack. Then we head into the countryside, passing by Irish Seed Savers, and then exploring the hilly back roads which loop back to Tuamgraney. This version takes around 2.5 hours.
Long version. This version of the tour is 36km long (23 miles). The first half of the route is the smae as the short route, but on arrival back at Tuamgraney we head to the south east, travelling uphill to enjoy spectacular views down to Lough Derg as we head downhill to Ogonelloe. At Ogonelloe we explore a series of quiet back roads before returning to Tuamgraney via a dedicated cycle path. This version takes around 4 hours.
The map below shows the longer version of the tour. The shorter version omits the loop at the south eastern edge of the map.
